The film YUGA was created by GeM’s president, Julien Abril, and was presented for the Montréal en Lumière festival in march 2010. This unique experience allowed the spectators to travel through our Universe’s space-time.
A Yuga is an age or an era in a cycle of four Yuga: Satya Yuga (or Krita Yuga), Treta Yuga, Dvapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. According to Hindu cosmogony, the universe exists over 4,320,000 solar years (mahâyuga) then dissolves to be reborn again. The first Yuga: Satya, is a golden age that declines until it reaches the dark age of Kali, in which we currently are and that precedes the dissolution.
This project challenges were to place the guests at the peak of the first cycle “the Kali Yuga” that would end 432,000 years later, when a new downhill (avatâr) of Vishnou would bring back order (dharma) only to start another Yuga cycle.
We hence plunged youth and adults into this unique immersive show by creating a moving atmosphere making them visit our galaxy, our planet and the history of life and mankind which, at the cosmic scale, is no more than a spark.
